Hi everyone!
Every year, I run a project called “New Year, New Stories”.
It’s intended to help bring some more exposure (and some money) to any indie creators who have published a comic in the last 12 months. Rising tide raises all ships and such.
This is my call for New Year, New Stories 2025.
Any published or waiting-for-publishing comic can be submitted for free.

At the beginning of 2021, I created an anthology with a number of awesome people. I decided to do that based on the fact that there had been very few to no conventions – and therefore no opportunity to sell comics for a lot of indie creators!
We have now run three successful anthologies (2021, 2022 and 2023), which were all funded by Kickstarter.
Although it’s quite a lot of work, each has brought in some money for all the creators involved, as well showcasing new indie comics in a way I’m very proud of.
Some of you may have seen this before, but for those who have not, here’s a breakdown:
– We split all profits between people who submit. This is whatever is left after expenses to bring it to life (cover artwork, layout work, marketing expenses, etc.).
– You don’t have to pay anything to submit, this is supposed to be a profitable venture for you.
– We only ask for a limited license to print this for Kickstarter rewards! You maintain all ownership of your comic and can publish it any time. Happy to answer more questions on this.
– The deadline for submission is 1st December 2024 (with some wiggle room, contact me if that’s an issue).
– The comic should either not yet be published or have been published between January 2024 and January 2025. Previews of upcoming work are fine!
The comic length should be an even number between 4 and 10 pages, plus a cover and links page for your other work (Examples of links pages from previous issues can be provided!). Your submission must be an even number of pages in total!
– The comic can be black and white or colour.
– The comic should be PG-13 rated at the most, please!
– The comic shouldn’t be overly political (if there’s a question in your mind when you think of your comic, let me know and we’ll discuss it).
We do have a minimum quality standard, but no-one who has submitted yet has had any issues.
For us, this is a celebration of indie comics and we want to get them in front of more people. I submit some of my work, so I get the same share of profits as everyone else who does the same for that!
Our Kickstarters for this initiative have been successful, and we have learned more and more each year about what we want to do and how we want to do it.
