Violete: Unstoppable, our next Comic, is live!

Hi everyone!

With the delivery of all of the Blue-Shift rewards, the SoV Comics guys have launched their next Kickstarter!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sovcomics/violete-unstoppable?ref=3etsak

Violete is the story of a hero who is trying to help a city that doesn’t want help.

page 06revision-small page 01revision (2)-small

She has powers and feels the need to stop crime, but the police just want to arrest her, despite her relatively pacifistic methods.

The criminals she is arresting don’t like her much either, and she meets her match when one of them is transformed into the unstoppable supervillain, Rampage!

Join us for the third story in this sequence, an important step on the road to come…

Era: The Consortium – The Bug War #2 is available now!

Hi everyone!

You may remember our previous comic, Declaration: The Bug War #1.

While that story explained the events surrounding the start of the war, the Consortium’s acceptance of the conflict and the journey which Hai-Xang Hayden had to face, it was far from the end of the story.

Bug War 2 Cover

Infiltration: The Bug War 2 follows the next stage of the story, where Hai-Xang must rally her forces and find out about this mysterious enemy.

If she can’t discover how to defeat them, the war she’s insisted on could end in the Consortium being destroyed…

More Comics are coming our way! – The Oracle

We’ve already produced several successful comics for both our Era: The Consortium and Era: Empowered universes and we just can’t seem to stop! The comics division of Shades of Vengeance is working double time to increase production and throughout this upcoming year, Ed plans to significantly ramp up the number of comics we’re creating. He has loads planned and we really hope that you’ll join us along our journey!

Right now, Penumbra #2 Fear the Bunny Lord is still available on Kickstarter. If you haven’t dropped over to take a look I can tell you that there are some pretty cool rewards including; original artwork sketches, postcards with character art, and even a personal short story written by the author! You’ve got a few days left to check it out but don’t wait too long or you’ll miss your shot at collecting the next adventure in Penumbra’s ever-expanding series.

http://kck.st/2AyOouy

Before I leave I’m going to take a look back to some of the things we talked about and that you can expect to see in the upcoming year. I can’t believe it’s already time to start saying goodbye to 2017. I feel like we just got here!

Coming to you next year…

Era: The Chosen- A truly terrifying adventure which is going to let us stretch our ghoulish muscles a bit and really make you afraid of the dark.

https://sovcomics.com/era-chosen-announcement-oracle/

Era: Atlantis- A tale as old as time but with our own Shades of Vengeance twists. We’re going to give this familiar myth a few new surprises that will add some magic and mystery into your life.

https://sovcomics.com/glimpse-era-atlantis-oracle/

Era- The Empowered- This advanced superhero game has more depth and intrigue than a spy novel and more fast-paced action than a Tom Cruise movie. The heroes of the Empowered are just waiting to save the world… or at least that’s what they tell me.

https://sovcomics.com/era-empowered-special-news-edition-oracle/

That’s all I have for you today. Come back on Saturday for another sourcebook where I get to talk about my favorite Consortium race, the Vilithii!

See you next time!

Shades of Vengeance at MCM October 2017 (London) – Stand 721!

Hi everyone!

You may have already seen this from Amy’s posts, but we’re going to be at MCM Comicon London this October (27th-29th). You can find us at Stand 721!

We’ll be running all of our RPGs and we’re offering our brand new card game, Evil Overlord, along with Champion of Earth for anyone who wants to give it a go!

This is our 4th MCM Comicon in October and, as always, we’ve volunteered to run a panel about creativity, as well as talking with anyone who wants to get into writing, comics or games. We believe that working to help other people achieve their creative dreams is one of the greatest responsibilities of the companies in these industries.

We’ve got a huge amount of experience across our team: from writing novels to creating comics, from game design to sound and artwork. We use these skills to create our own games and to help others create the game or comic they had always dreamed of!

We’ll be at MCM with a huge number of our games, and we’ll be more than happy to share any or all of them with you!

You can find all of this and much more at Stand 722:

Champion of Earth

A massive favourite at the last MCM, we’re bringing Champion of Earth back, once again to MCM London. You can have your chance to defend the Earth against not only Aliens, Undead and Creatures, though!

We’re bringing the brand new expansion, Robots and Cyborgs, with us as well, which adds Robots and Cyborgs as enemies, along with loads of brand new equipment for you to try!

We hope you’ll join us in defending the Earth at MCM as one of our 8 brave Defenders!

Era: The Consortium – A Sci-Fi game with 500 years of playable history

In Era: The Consortium, you can explore a massive universe and play at any time during the 500-year history. This allows you to play any sub-genre of Sci-Fi you want: colonisation of the first planet, exploration of new solar systems, first contact with aliens, all-out war with forces determined to destroy the Consortium or as part of a Resistance movement trying to overthrow an evil government!

The critically acclaimed Era: The Consortium “Last Stand of Stiletto Unit” session is going to be running as a demo throughout the weekend, so come along if you love Sci-Fi! Have a chance to save 14 billion lives inset at the climax of the game’s 500 year history!

We’ve been running this game for a long time, and loads of people have had a great time playing!

We’ve recently run a successful Kickstarter which enabled us to add 8 new expansion books to the Era: The Consortium universe and we’ll be bringing them with us. Gain Psionic powers, play as a secret agent, enter the virtual worlds within computer systems and play as a brand new alien race – the choice is yours!

Era: Survival – Survive a world where Infected zombies are everywhere!

The fan favourite Era: Survival puts players into Gaia, a world where Humanity is dying out – in 100 years, there may not be anything left. No-one knows what caused the cataclysm and, honestly, no-one really cares any more. All that matters now is staying alive: faced with the Infected Mutants and Shamblers as well as the 14 factions of humanity convinced that they have the best way of surviving this post-apocalyptic world.

Will you survive? Find out in our Era: Survival Session “In Her Name”, which we’ll be running throughout the weekend!

If you’re interested in joining in, we’ve got a Kickstarter for Era: Survival running during the convention , so feel free to drop by and grab one of our flyers or talk to us about it!

Era: Hitman – Become a super-powered assassin!

Era: Hitman places you in control of an assassin with superhuman abilities. Avoid guards to reach your target in this game, inspired by Assassin’s Creed and Hitman!

After an amazingly popular Kickstarter campaign, we actually sold out of copies of Era: Hitman, but we’ve got hold of another print run just for you guys!

We’ll be running demos of this for the first time at this convention, so don’t miss out this chance to try our latest game!

Era: Lyres – Adventuring? That sounds dangerous…

In Era: Lyres, you enter a fantasy world… but not as adventurers! Adventuring is dangerous, dirty, and doesn’t even usually reward you all that well! Instead, you are going to tell stories to the good folk of Yarnolth and convince them you have been on amazing adventures and have saved them! In return, they will reward you with gold and adoration!

Find out whether you have what it takes to be an adventurer in Era: Lyres, and don’t forget to bring your friends! We’ll be running sessions of it for anyone who wants throughout the weekend!

Era: The Empowered – Be a superhero!

Who hasn’t wanted to be a superhero at some point? In Era: The Empowered, you can create and play with your own powers to fight the evil villains who plague your city. Or… perhaps you’ll join them?

We’ll be running demo sessions of Era: The Empowered for anyone who wishes to play! Just come to the stand and ask to play!

Era: Silence – Join with your friends to prove yourself as a Warrior!

Visit the Isle of Silence in this game, where you must work as a team despite being unable to speak to each other. If you fail to overcome the Challenges placed around the Isle, you will never earn your name as a warrior and return.

Can you overcome the Challenges of the Isle? Find out with us – we’ll be running demo sessions of Era: Silence throughout the weekend!

If you’re interested in knowing more about what people thought of our games, check out our video log from October 2017:

Comics – Sci-Fi to Superheroes!

Shades of Vengeance also creates comics, and we are bringing several of them to MCM! With two Science Fiction comics (in the Era: The Consortium universe) and two superhero comics (in the Era: The Empowered universe), we’re starting to move onward with our comic production!

We hope that you’ll visit our stand and check out what we have to offer!

Ever dream of becoming a writer or game creator?

Ed and Leo are running a panel about how to be creative and how to keep that creativity going through the hard parts of projects.

Of course, you can also join us for a chat at our stand any time!

We’re pleased and proud to be visiting MCM Comicon once again! We hope you’ll join us!

Shades of Vengeance will be exhibiting at Stand 721, near the S5 entrance, for all 3 days!

The Next Era Comic Is Coming Up! – The Oracle

It’s time once again for another fabulous Era Comic! This time we get to experience the next super powered hero from Era: The Empowered.

Violete spends her time balancing school life, family matters and the occasional run-in with petty criminals. Her powers of flight and super strength make her a force to be reckoned with until she meets a villain with powers of his own. Now, Violete finds herself in a fight for her life that could push her into becoming more than just an average hero.

This is the third comic for Era: The Empowered and it is written by Ed Jowett and Jennifer Martin, before being edited and lettered by Johnathan Lewis. These three have worked together to bring us some amazing stories for Era: The Consortium, Era: Survival, and Era: The Empowered so you know you’re in excellent hands!

You’ve got plenty of time to check this comic’s Kickstarter out, but why wait? You can choose from pdf or physical versions of the story as well as some unique extras. Head on over and see just what Violete is all about in her first-ever comic book appearance.

That’s it for me today. I’ll see you Saturday with another Consortium Expansion Spotlight!

New Comic Book Details! – The Oracle

She’s tough, smart and more than most criminals can handle. Violete is the feature character for Era: The Empowered’s next comic book!

Violete is a hardworking hero. Not only does she keep up with her university studies and maintain her relationship with her parents, she also works diligently to root out the criminal element in her city. Using her visceral telekinetic gifts, which give her strength and flight, she manages to fight crime and yet still balance her life the best she can. For the most part, it’s been working…

However, this comic book deals with the result of her escalating attack on crime. When a small-time crook by the name of Dane becomes the deadly lizard-like villain, Rampage, with chameleon powers and a thirst for revenge, Violete must face the truth that her biggest challenge has only just begun. Instead of petty thieves, she must fight a serious adversary and along the way try to discover who was behind Dane’s incredible transformation.

Violete’s comic will be coming out in just a few weeks to Kickstarter so be sure to check back here so you don’t miss a minute of the action!

More Comics Are On The Way – The Oracle

Welcome to another fabulous round of Shades of Vengeance news! We’ve got Patreon, Kickstarter, and comic updates for you so sit back and take it all in.

First up, Comic News! Ever since our initial foray into the world of art-fueled story telling we’ve been hooked on creating these fun books. It’s a well-known fact that comics and rpgs go together like old-timey wizards and Magic Missile, so Ed and the team have been diving head first into producing great comic adventures to push the boundaries of our gaming worlds.

With that in mind, Ed will be building up our Comics division in the coming months and you can expect to see a lot more from several of your favorite characters. We’ll be starting out with a piece centered around Era: Empowered’s Violete, a super-powered heroine that I think you’re going to love. She’s going to kick off a brand new comics series and I’ll be sharing all the details with you in our regular news posts. As time goes on, we may even add a special Comics News Day to our lineup.

Comics are fantastic but what we’re here to do is play games, right? I’m excited to announce that our break-out card game, Champion of Earth will be starting its very first Expansion Kickstarter very soon! The “Robots and Cyborgs” Expansion edition will be a great add-on to your regular game and give you the opportunity to inject even more fun into this already crazy game. Through the Kickstarter you’ll also get another chance to get in on the Limited Edition Expansion deck, so newer hardcore fans should definitely check this out.

We have another first coming up for you all: the first Era: Survival campaign is debuting on Patreon this month! Long-time readers will recognize Patreon as the place to get unique Consortium content, sneak peeks, and even special offers.

Now, you’ll be able to do the same for Survival with the Era: Survival Foundation Campaign Sessions! It’s easy to join and the rewards just keep stacking so take a minute and see what we’re all about. [ www.patreon.com/SoV ]

That’s all I’ve got for today but hopefully I’ve left you plenty to think about. See you next time!

Come See us at MCM Tomorrow! – The Oracle

At this very moment, Ed and Leo are just finalizing the setup of our booth at MCM Comicon in London. You can find us at Stand 1232. We’ll be there through the entire weekend so you’ll have plenty of time to stop in and check us out.

For the first time ever, you can check out a copy of Era: Silence and attempt to earn your true name by overcoming the Challenges on the Isle of Silence. Do you have the self control to play a game with limited communication? Stop by our booth to play this and any of our 5 available games either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Ed will be right there to answer all of your questions and even just have a chat about creating games if you’re interested.

There will not be a news post on Saturday due to our attendance at Comicon but be sure to check our Facebook and Twitter pages through the weekend to get loads of updates, photos, and videos! Remember to tag us in any photos you take with Ed or the GM crew, we love to chat with fans!

Have a great weekend and I’ll catch up with you next week where we can talk about the end of our Kickstarter event!

Consortium Artwork – The Oracle

Continuing our week of art! Today I get to share with you some new pieces for our Era: The Consortium expansions. It’s not all story artwork and card game images around here. Ed has decided to pre-release some of the finished logos! These familiar Consortium images each have a bit of tweaking to make them more appropriate for their respective expansions, though they both look fabulous.

05_free_trader_04

02_a_new_dawn_draft02

Everyone is hard at work making these expansions spectacular and we hope to have them out to you and ready to play as soon as possible!

If you’re in the mood to play something even sooner, check out our ongoing Patreon campaign. You can get special access to new Consortium sessions every month!

See you next time!

Artwork for Champion of Earth – The Oracle

Today begins a week of art for Shades of Vengeance. It’s been awhile since we gave you some delicious images to snack on, so Ed’s taken pity on us and handed out a whole crate full!

Perhaps you’ll remember Champion of Earth? It’s one of our upcoming games and is certainly getting a lot of attention right now. This card game is still in early stages of development but the cards themselves are coming through the art department and they’re looking gorgeous!

I have a selection to show you today, each one a bit more interesting than the last. Let’s introduce you to a few of our characters…

Action Hero Character
Army Man Character
Rogue Character
Scientist Character

Of course, our characters don’t always look so smart and clean cut. These guys will be seeing some action and taking some damage which is when you’re going to see them look more like this…

Action Hero Character
Army Man Character
Rogue Character
Scientist Character

We also have a few card backs that I’ve been allowed to show you. The artwork for this game is incredible and it just keeps coming!

Creature Card Back
Alien Card Back
Undead Card Back

So there you have it, plenty of new images to get you thinking about how this game is going to be played and what exactly that creature with yellow eyes just might be. If you have a guess I’d love to hear it. I’m not sure but I think its eyes follow me when I try to shut the laptop…

Back in a few days with more art and more news!

Don’t Hate the Player (Image from Penumbra comic)

“Did it hurt?” Nico leaned closer to the fabulous creature in the pink tank top and fire engine lip color. Her eyes scrunched up, thinking.
“Ok, I give up… did what hurt?”
“When you fell from heaven.”

Nico smiled with all his teeth and leaned in close but the girl just rolled her black lined eyes up and around. She slid away from the bar, careful not to get too close to Nico who shrugged and took another swig of Jack and Coke. Some ladies couldn’t handle the heat.

He swaggered over to an empty table near the dance floor and as Nico sat, a divine looking woman in a yellow dress walked through the door. She headed straight for his table and when she came within earshot he put both hands over his chest.

“Oh sweetheart, you must be a thief… cuz’ you stole my heart.” He paused for a reaction. Nothing. She didn’t look at him. Instead, she scanned the room. Her dark eyes deep in thought.

“Is your name Summer?” Nico purred. He didn’t wait for her to answer, “Because baby, you’re hot as hell.”

The mystery woman reached out a hand and snagged his drink off the table, still not bothering to even glance at him. Nico’s mouth fell open. The perfect woman. Beautiful and gutsy to boot. He cleared his throat to deliver another great line when an ear busting boom rocked the nightclub.

Smoke and screams mixed with techno beats and created a chaotic mess. Clubbers rushed off the dance floor, tipping over chairs and shoving each other to the ground. Nico stood with slow exaggeration and watched the unfolding madness. A hand tapped him on the shoulder and he turned.

The yellow dressed woman smiled, tipped back his drink, emptied it, then shook the tumbler in front of his face. Ice cubes danced in the glass.

“Be an angel and get me another one of these, would you sweetcheeks?” The woman tossed the tumbler into his hands and he fumbled to catch it.

“The name’s Penumbra,” she said with a smirk. Movement from the floor caught Nico’s attention and his stomach squirmed. He stared open-mouthed as inky darkness crawled up Penumbra’s calves, her hips, her bosom.

“And I’ll steal more than your heart if it’s worth anything…” She looked him over and let out a disappointed sigh. With a flick of her hand, she transformed into a living shadow.

Nico’s eyes bulged and he tried to take a drink from the empty glass to wet his suddenly dry mouth. An ice cube stuck in his throat. He spluttered and coughed it out.

“Now stand back Romeo,” Penumbra melted into darkness, “I’ve got work to do.”

Enhancing the Moment (Image from Era: The Consortium – The Fifth Race)

Sozu tracked six blazing red shots headed in a straight line for his chest. In the chaos of battle, there are moments which slow down to micro-speed level. The shouts of the other soldiers. The smell of burned fuel. The bursts of explosions. They all happen with detached exaggeration. This was one of those moments.

Sozu felt a rock crunch under his boot as his body stiffened to prepare for the shock of the oncoming weapon’s fire. There was no getting around it. This was his end.

He felt a small stab of regret remembering that just last week he’d ordered new boots. Something he’d never get a chance to wear. In fact, it was only last Tuesday that Sozu had visited the armoury. That moment played out with crisp detail in his mind.

“Hey, if it isn’t my second favorite lieutenant.” Tech Sergeant Davis had slapped Sozu on the back and given him a wide grin, waiting for the invitation to deliver his punchline. Sozu obliged.

“Oh yea? Who’s your first?”

“Your wife,” Davis  guffawed and slapped Sozu on the back again. The Tech Sergeant motioned Sozu towards a standing repair pod, “Step into my office. What’ll it be, full armor upgrades across the board?”

“Hah, you wish.” Sozu had laughed. “What do I need all that for? Nope, I just need a tune up and a polish. Make sure all the old crap I’ve already got is still working.”

“You sure? I don’t think this is gonna get you through a harsh breeze let alone another deployment.” Davis eyed Sozu’s armor with healthy skepticism.

“Every time I come in here you try to get me into one of those fancy bells and whistles upgrades.” Sozu had scoffed. “Who needs all that? Not me.”

As the bullets pounded Sozu’s chest, the force of their impact drove him backwards. His feet left the ground and he said a silent goodbye to the world. His back slid against hard rock. He bounced twice and went tail over tea kettle in the dirt until he came to a stop. Dust swirled around him.

After several painful moments, Sozu opened his eyes. He wasn’t dead.

His hands searched the front of his armor and though there were some dents, nothing had penetrated the tough metal skin. Sozu laughed.
“Davis, you sneaky son of a bitch!”

Meet the Beast! – The Oracle

Don’t be taken in by their initially adorable appearances. These masters of subtlety have evolved a menacing set of skills and a “take no prisoners” attitude. Grown men have been reduced to sweaty tear streaked blubbery messes after a confrontation with the… WERERABBIT!

See the story Rabbits by Moonlight if you have no idea what I’m talking about!

I’ll do my best to get you more details next week but take this image with you during long walks in open fields to help identify the miniscule monsters. Just doing my part to spread the word and keep you all safe!

Until next week!

New Story Day! – The Oracle

It’s new story day! It’s new story day!

Excuse me while I pull myself down from the chandeliers. I love it when we get a chance to post one of our stories. Today is especially fabulous because this is a bit of a sneak peak into our deluxe edition. This is the only story we’re going to post online for everyone to see.

If you weren’t one of our backers on Kickstarter then you’re going to miss out on the rest of the special content. We love giving our supporters more than they expect and we’ve done it with nearly all our games this far. Next time we run a special Kickstarter event I hope you’ll jump in there with us.

So, slide your seat back and get comfy for a little slice of the Lyres universe. What does a Lyre do when a plan falls apart? Improvise!

Played at MCM

Hi everyone!

I have taken over from Amy for just this occasion to talk about Era: Lyres at MCM.

We gave our first public demos and offered people the standard edition rulebook.

Every group who played the game at MCM Comicon in London with us bought a copy! This game has been a massive success and those that played it enjoyed it very much.

As anyone who attended the panel with Felicia Day will know, we also gave her a copy of this game. We hope she enjoys it!

I’m really proud of what Era: Lyres has managed to achieve and I can’t wait to be sending this out to everyone who backed us, as well as offering it on our store.

Amy will be back next week with a new Lyres update and, I believe, a new story, written for the Deluxe version.

– Ed

Beasts Are Coming! – The Oracle

Do you worry about Orc invasions? Do you lie awake at night wondering if your home is troll proof and do you know how best to defend yourself against a sandworm?

Well, if you’re one of the lucky Kickstarter backers to get our deluxe edition of the Lyre’s rulebook then you just may find out. Writing has now wrapped up and the art is finalized on our Bestiary! This Era:Lyres supplement is going to be chock full of details about some of the nasties that might be roaming the hills and swamps of our universe. It could just save your life…or at the very least entertain you.

Armed with all the knowledge of when and where to look for the best monsters you can then take your time to explore the lands surrounding Yarnolth using our Travelers Guide. This special Kickstarter add-on is underway and we’re working hard to include lots of fun details. We’re also in the process of getting those extra stories written so that your experience with Lyres is top notch!

I hope this sounds good to you because I’m pretty excited about all the extra content being created for Lyres. It’s a fun game and I love knowing that it’s going to be supported by all this additional material. If you missed out on the Kickstarter and you’re wondering when’s the next chance you’ll have to get a copy…we’ve got you covered. Just get yourself a ticket for MCM Comicon in London, coming up May 22nd, and come see us. We’ll be selling the basic Lyre’s rulebook as well as a limited number of posters so get there early!

Until next time!

Sneak Peak! (Pun Intended) – The Oracle

Orcs and trolls and manticores, oh my! The new bestiary content is well underway and we’ve got some great things planned for you. I’m not allowed to give away any secrets but I will tell you that we plan to
include some old favorites as well as a few more unusual creatures to get your imagination burning. Here’s an image by the amazing Sofia Michailidou of a manticore. She did a fantastic job and I can’t wait to see everything she comes up with!

manticore

We’re also working on the Travelers Guide and filling out the lands surrounding Yarnolth. It’s a lot like redecorating your apartment…should we put a desert to the north of the city or would a swamp look better there? Should the mountain be East, West, North or South? It’s coming along great and we’re very happy with everything so far.

Until next week!

– A

It’s the Last Day! – The Oracle

Happy Star Wars day everyone. Ed couldn’t resist an opportunity like this so he made sure our Lyres Kickstarter ended on May 4th. So join me in turning to the person next to you and saying: May the Fourth be with you!

You’ve all been great to follow along with us this far and we are really thrilled to have gotten funded and into our Stretch Goals with this unique game. Today is the last and final opportunity to get in on the Lyres Kickstarter. Remember to pass this along to anyone who might be interested in playing a game that rewards you for your quick thinking, your imagination and hopefully sense of humor!

We’ve had so many great changes and additions thanks to the input of our amazing backers that I wanted to share with you some of the things we’ve done to make this game even better than when we first posted it.

We now have the map of Yarnolth available as a print on canvas from us… or, alternatively, the permission to print a copy for yourself. The map is a great way to add dimension to your games and we’ve been told the comments scribbled on it by Lyres of the past are one of the best bits!

By popular demand, we’ve also added the Travelers Guide to Yarnolth. This brand new book is going to have descriptions of other towns along with a whole new map of Yarnolth and the lands around it. You’ll be able to really dig in and become a part of this fun world.

The Era: Lyres team is incredibly proud of the way this game has grown into something bigger and better than even we could have imagined. We have all our great Kickstarter backers to thank for making this such a successful adventure. Thank you to everyone!

Until next time!

A new interview and Co-ordinates to find us at MCM!

Ed  has been busy the last few weeks grabbing everyone who will sit still for two minutes to tell them about what we do here at Shades of Vengeance. From little old ladies waiting at bus stops to muscled cycling enthusiasts at the gym; he’s out there working hard to get peoples attention. And it’s working! He recently showed up on another interview; this time with Geek Apocolypse. Check out two hours of conversation on Ed’s opinions from anything to everything; including Era: Lyres.

Speaking of Lyres, thanks to all the backers who supported this game we’ve just broke past the first stretch goal! Congratulations and thank you for helping to make our dreams a reality. Now every backer will get a digital copy of the map of Yarnolth. After listening to the requests and comments of our fabulous backers, Ed has been persuaded to develop some add on items with our rewards so go check out the Kickstarter to see what’s new!

If you’ve seen our frontpage lately you might be wondering why we’ve changed. Well, we’re currently displaying a poster for the Era: Lyres Kickstarter on our frontpage as a way to let folks who might not be getting our regular updates know what’s been going on. We want to remind people what games we have available to support so that we can continue to provide new and amazing RPG’s.

Last thing for today and then I’m going to let you go. We know where we’re going to be at MCM! I hope you’ve got your tickets and plans made to come see us on May 22nd -24th at MCM Comicon in London. You can find us at table number 1333 near the S7 entrance. Stop by and play a game with us, chat us up about Consortium or any of our other games and ask any question you like. We love talking to fans! We also love cookies…seriously, bring cookies.

See you next time!

Which Way To The Pub? – The Oracle

If you’re going to set up as a Lyre in Yarnolth there’s something very important that you’re going to need: a map. If you don’t have a map to make notes on, you’ll never remember that the baker on King’s Way promised you a loaf of day old for vanquishing that Manticore. Or that the folks on Market Square are gullible as sheep on Sunday mornings after a night of hard drinking.

Our creative team love maps! Treasure maps, terrain maps, star maps, and even the annoying paper folding road maps. It’s a marvelous way of getting to know the world you’re in. So, that’s why we’ve decided to create a map of Yarnolth, in the style of something you might find in a Lyre’s hidden pocket; complete with useful commentary.

If our Kickstarter reaches the Map of Yarnolth Stretch Goal, then everyone who’s backed us gets their own copy! If not… well, we like it so much we’re still going to make the map but it will only be available as a separate purchase through our website. Not a bad deal, but if we can make that Stretch Goal then everybody gets the benefit. Pass the word to everyone who loves a good laugh!

Keep on rolling!

– A

Stretching for those Goals! – The Oracle

Now that Lyres is completely funded thanks to the support of all you fabulous people – have we told you that you look smashing today? – it’s time to focus our energy on achieving some of these Stretch Goals. We’re getting close to our first!

Travis Hill is on the alert and ready to start his contribution to the book should we get that far. We’re really pleased with how everything is going and we’ve still got nearly a month to go! The best thing you can do if you’d like to see Lyres reach a little further is just talk about it. Pass along the Kickstarter to friends, family and even that gorgeous store clerk you’ve been meaning to ask out. Seriously, there’s no better ice breaker than, “Would you like to play a hilarious game?”

Before I leave you today I want to share with you a little bit of light reading. You can check out Lyres on the website Table Top Gaming News where they wrote a really nice article about us. You can also stop by the GMShoe website where there is a lovely transcript of the Q&A that Ed and I took part in for RPGNet. Thanks again to Dan and everyone who took the time to check in, ask questions and get to know us. As always if there are questions you have that haven’t been answered please drop us a line!

Until next time!

Spread the Word – The Oracle

Are you ready to have an adventure of mythic proportions, vanquish demonic beasts with a one eyed stare down and capture the heart of a little town called Yarnolth?

The Lyres Kickstarter is out and funded! Now, it’s onward to those Stretch Goals. Don’t wait another minute, this is officially your chance to get in on all the fun. We’ve tested it and perfected it and we think you’re going to love this game of creative storytelling. Everyone who’s played it has been a huge fan and we can’t wait for more people to be a part of the experience.

So, other than a chance to get your very own copy, support an independent game design company, and be a part of making this dream come true… why should you back this game? For the rewards of course!

We have a variety of rewards to make choosing your pledge more fun. You can select from digital and physical copies of the rule book, a comic detailing the adventures of a famous group of Lyres, pre-made sessions, a hardcover copy of the rulebook, and combinations of all the above. You could even choose to have a session run by our very own Game Master and the creator of Lyres; Ed Jowett.

We’ve also got some Stretch goals we know you’re going to love. If we reach our goals then Travis Hill, the author of the Ability series of books, has agreed to join our writing team for a special story. Also, Dramascape will create a map of Yarnolth that will be delivered digitally with every rule book. This map will be in a style you’d expect a Lyre to carry, with plenty of helpful notes about where to be and where not to! These are both fabulous additions to the game and I’m excited to see how far we can get. There are so many reasons to support Lyres, I don’t have space for them all!!

So what are you waiting for? Grab your flagon of ale, gather your best mates and think up your most outlandish plan to save the Magistrates daughter from that collapsed gold mine.

Secure your place in history with Era: Lyres!

I’m late!

My post today is late for the first time ever (well, as far as I can remember)!

Why?

Era: Lyres Kickstarter. I’m currently working on spreading the word as far and wide as possible.

Because it isn’t every day you come up with something that people haven’t seen before!

Help us spread the word, you can make a difference just by sharing on Facebook or Twitter, or by telling your friends!

Era: Lyres Kicksarter is Up!

Hi everyone!

Now’s your chance to get involved with Era: Lyres – we already have several backers on our Kickstarter. Get in quick to grab Early Bird rewards!

If you’re still not sure, listen to the Dice and Stuff podcast – it has a great cross-section of the game. I, personally, can’t wait to hear more, they are definitely having fun and it’s awesome to hear!

I hope to see you all over at the Kickstarter, and thanks in advance for supporting us.

Never Trust a Lyre… – The Oracle

We sent our Kickstarter information to Yarnolth Keep via a courier agency – I was too busy to run it there myself! The lady in the tavern promised us top-notch service and we believed her.

However, both our Lyres Kickstarter and the courier seem to have gone missing!

The courier was last seen heading towards the Lucky Lady. He’s a stout Dwarf well-known in Yarnolth and was wearing a horned helmet when last seen.

If found, please send him back to “Knight-Commander Ed Jowett”, who’s hanging out at the Guard Post, taking a missing person report.

Thanks!

A note from Ed –
Apologies, all you Lyres fans! I am really sad to have to tell you that we have had to delay the start of our Era: Lyres Kickstarter campaign. We will be back on track as soon as possible – this game will be available soon.

Are you ready? – The Oracle

Are you ready to play a game that will let you do almost anything, that keeps you on your toes and encourages hilarious problem solving? You won’t have to wait much longer! Things are pulling together for the Lyres Kickstarter which should be released within the next week or so. There’s been such great response from everyone who has already played this game and I absolutely can’t wait to see what you think of it.

I have one other exciting announcement for you this week. I was told recently that Dramascape will be creating a map for Lyres! This company creates amazing maps and they’re going to work up something really fun for us. What would a Lyres adventure be without a well marked map of all the best pubs, where to find the prettiest barmaids, and how best to avoid hungry guard dogs?  I’ll let you know all the details once I get more.

Until then, keep on rolling!
